Muscat: The University Medical City on Wednesday organised the "First Annual Research Day", which saw the participation of international researchers, academics and specialists in the health sector.

The event, which took place at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, was aimed to promote innovation and development in the health sector in the Sultanate of Oman.

The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr. Khamis Saif Al Jabri, Dr. Khamis Saif Al Jabri, Chairman of Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit.

The Research Day featured 15 papers and 50 research posters from a total of 319 abstracts. Local and international experts presented papers on the role of research and innovation in improving the quality of healthcare and promoting prompt leadership in research.

Three sessions were also held during the event. They debated 15 oral research studies that were evaluated by a specialised committee. In addition, an exhibition featuring more than 50 research posters from government and research institutions was held.

The event allowed researchers to exchange ideas, showcase the outcomes of their studies and enhance cooperation among different institutions.

The ceremony also included the felicitation of winners of the top three places in Research Day categories—namely the Research Posters Category and the Oral Research Studies Category (endorsed by the University Medical City)—and the Best Poster Award (for winners in the Emerging Researchers Category).
