Fourth Izki Cultural Forum inaugurated at Oman Across Ages Museum

Manah — The fourth Izki Cultural Forum, titled "Our Historic Quarters Between Authenticity and Modernity," was inaugurated today at Oman Across the Ages Museum. Organized by the Izki Cultural Center in cooperation with the A’Dakhiliyah Governorate and several entities, the forum includes 13 cultural events and will continue for 16 days.

Sheikh Hilal Said Al-Hajri, Governor of A’Dakhiliyah and patron of the occasion, stated that the event embodies the connection of the Omani identity to its ancient history.

He pointed out that the old quarters in the Wilayat of Izki represent one of the most important historical landmarks that preserve the memory of the place and document important stages of Oman's civilizational journey.

He added that A’Dakhiliyah Governorate is pressing ahead with implementing initiatives and projects concerned with reviving heritage sites and activating them as tourist and cultural destinations that support the local economy.

For his part, Younis Ali Al Manthri, Head of the Izki Cultural Center and Chairman of the Forum's Organizing Committee, emphasized in his speech the importance of the event as a bridge connecting the past with the present, supporting efforts to revive historic quarters and utilize them.

The forum's inauguration was accompanied by an exhibition featuring several sections, including a section for photographs and aerial maps, a section for artifacts and antiquities, a documents section, and a manuscripts section, with participation from the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, Oman Across the Ages Museum and the National Records and Archives Authority.
