Muscat airport welcomes inaugural China Eastern Airlines flight from Beijing

Muscat: Oman Airports on Sunday evening welcomed the first inaugural flight of China Eastern Airlines arriving from Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX), marking the launch of a new direct air route between Muscat and Beijing with two weekly flights.

The new connection, introduced in cooperation with Oman's Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, is expected to boost tourism, trade, and investment between the Sultanate of Oman and China.

Under the new schedule, flights will operate every Sunday and Wednesday using Airbus A330-300 aircraft with a capacity of 299 passengers, enhancing air connectivity and catering to travellers across different segments.

Azzan bin Qassim Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, said the route represents “a bridge of friendship and cooperation,” linking two ancient civilisations with shared historical and cultural ties. He added that the new service opens significant opportunities for cultural, tourism, and economic exchange.

Ahmed bin Said Al Amri, CEO of Oman Airports, noted that the direct Muscat–Beijing route is a strategic addition to the company’s growing network of international destinations. He said it will support tourism and investment flows while strengthening Oman’s position as a regional hub for aviation and logistics.
