
Muscat: The activities of the 5th Fibre Connect Council MENA Conference and Expo began in Muscat today, focusing on the accelerated progress in developing fiber optic infrastructure supported by artificial intelligence technologies.
The two-day conference attracted over 270 sector leaders, policymakers, and technical experts. Participants discuss the latest innovations in optical fiber fields, their integration with AI technologies, and their role in accelerating digital transformation. The conference is organized by the Fiber Connect Council MENA in partnership with the Oman Broadband Company as the host entity.
The conference inauguration was patronized by HH Sayyid Dr. Adham Turki Al Said, who emphasized that this conference reinforces national efforts aimed at developing digital infrastructure and highlights the pivotal role played by optical fiber networks in enabling digital transformation.
He added that developing digital infrastructure and enhancing the national economy's readiness for future requirements constitutes a pillar supporting innovation, stimulating investment, and raising service efficiency, in line with the targets of "Oman Vision 2040."
The conference includes the presentation of numerous working papers and sessions on the role of policies and regulation in AI infrastructure, building an AI-ready future via fiber networks, access network cost competitiveness, fiber-to-the-home deployment, data centers, and AI adoption.
The exhibition accompanying the conference witnesses the participation of a select group of regional and global technology and solution providers. They showcase the latest optical fiber deployment technologies, AI-powered network management systems, and next-generation digital infrastructure solutions.
