General Assembly of Oman Olympic Committee holds its regular meeting for 2026

Muscat– The General Assembly of the Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) held its regular meeting today, chaired by HH Sayyid Azzan Qais Al Said, Chairman of the Committee.

In his speech during the meeting, the Chairman affirmed that 2025 marked an important transitional phase in the Committee's journey, witnessing the election of the current board of directors.

He noted that the General Assembly meeting was convened to approve the annual report for 2025 and the estimated budget for 2026.

He explained that the Committee has worked on rearranging its priorities for the upcoming phase. This involves focusing on sports with Olympic potential and developing young athletes by utilizing Olympic Solidarity programs, all in full integration and coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.

Furthermore, he highlighted the continuous efforts to qualify technical and administrative cadres through the programs of the Oman Olympic Academy, emphasizing that investing in human resources is the fundamental basis for achieving sustainable sports development.

During the meeting, several topics on the agenda were discussed. The minutes of the previous General Assembly meeting, held on 23 March 2025, were ratified after reviewing its prominent decisions and recommendations.

The meeting reviewed the annual report on the administrative status and the Committee's activities for the year ended 2025. This report included the most prominent events and programs implemented and participated in by the Committee over the past year at the local, regional, and international levels.

The General Assembly approved the renewal of the Oman Dispute Resolution and Sports Arbitration Committee in its current formation.

Additionally, the meeting reviewed the final account for the financial year ended 2025, approved by the auditor, which was subsequently formally approved by the General Assembly. This was followed by the selection of the auditor for the current financial year 2026.

The meeting concluded by reviewing the Committee's draft estimated financial budget for the current year, discussing its financial items related to the implementation of future programs and activities designed to support the development of the Olympic movement and Omani sports.
