Muscat : The number of individuals enrolled in specialised rehabilitation centers for persons with disabilities reached 9,933 across 139 centers in various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, Minister of Social Development said.
During its media briefing, the Ministry of Social Development reviewed its most prominent achievements during 2025, the services and programs it provides in the social development sector, and its objectives for the current year.
Her Excellency Dr. Laila bint Ahmed Al Najjar, Minister of Social Development affirmed that the generous royal patronage for the development of the social development sector during 2025 ensures the continued disbursement of previous social security pensions to more than 100,000 citizens and the allocation of OMR 178 million last year.
Her Excellency added that the royal patronage includes the allocation of OMR 7 million for the establishment of an autism spectrum disorder care and rehabilitation center, along with a study of the needs of the governorates for such centers.
Her Excellency the Minister stated that in the sector of persons with disabilities, the Ministry focused during 2025 on improving the quality of services provided, expanding access, and strengthening social and legislative protection, which contributes to supporting the independence of persons with disabilities and their families and their effective integration into society.
