
Muscat : The number of government and private museums in the Sultanate of Oman grew by 3 to 34 by the end of 2025, compared to 31 by the end of 2024.
Data issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI) shows that the total number of visitors to museums in 2025 stood at 538,729, a decline of 28.6 percent against the 2024 figure of 753,000 visitors.
As many as 445,997 visitors turned out at government museums in 2025, compared to 92,732 who visited private museums last year.
On a monthly basis, February 2025 saw the highest turnout of visitors at museums (a total of 73,152), while only 19,470 visitors turned out at museums in March 2025.
