ROP enhances security system with integrated support force for Khareef Dhofar season

Muscat: The General Command of the Royal Oman Police (ROP) supplied on Wednesday the Police Command of Dhofar Governorate with a human support force, backed by advanced machinery and technical equipment, in a step that reflects the ROP's keenness to enhance field efforts and elevate the quality of security and policing services provided to visitors of the governorate throughout the Khareef Dhofar (monsoon) season.

Within the framework of striving to raise the efficiency of rapid response to various reports, reduce traffic accidents, and provide support and guidance to users of the roads leading to the governorate, the Royal Oman Police has set up multiple security checkpoints at several strategic locations, equipping them with direct communication lines to facilitate contact for visitors during emergencies, ensuring comprehensive security coverage along the roads leading to Dhofar Governorate to contribute to the security handling of reports.

The Hamra Al Duru checkpoint, located on the Auwifiyah road (Ibri / Fahud), has been activated, along with the Al Ghaba checkpoint in the Wilayat of Adam. Additionally, the Saih Al Zamaim and Al Ghaftain checkpoints are stationed in the Wilayat of Haima, the Qatbit checkpoint in the Wilayat of Muqshin, and the Saih Al Khairat checkpoint in the Wilayat of Thumrait.

Mounted patrols take charge of covering rugged tourist sites that are difficult for vehicles to access, in order to be close to tourists and ensure an effective police presence that instills a sense of safety in visitors.

Rescue and Coast Guard teams are stationed on the governorate's beaches and near water springs to ensure an immediate response to reports that may be recorded at those sites, in addition to providing preventive advice and guidance to visitors.

Police Aviation will contribute by providing air support in cases requiring helicopter intervention, such as search and rescue operations, providing air ambulance services when needed, and achieving rapid response to emergency situations.

The Directorate General of Police Aviation has provided helicopters stationed at the Al Wusta Governorate Police Command with an integrated crew of pilots, technicians, and medical personnel equipped with the devices and equipment enabling them to provide the necessary first aid to the injured until they reach the hospital.

The Royal Oman Police confirms its high readiness to deal with all events and secure the activities and events accompanying the season. This includes streamlining passport and visa procedures and facilitating movement through land and customs ports, in parallel with intensifying the police presence at tourist sites and event venues.

The Royal Oman Police calls upon all visitors to the governorate on the importance of adhering to rules and laws, continuously cooperating with police officers, and not hesitating to contact the nearest police station or the police operations hotline (9999) if assistance is requested, alongside complying with traffic regulations and rules, which contributes to enhancing the preservation of visitors' safety until arriving in Dhofar Governorate and returning from it via various routes.

It also urges avoiding rushing and recklessness, and taking rest when driving for long distances to ensure everyone's safety. Furthermore, it notes the necessity of paying attention to shifting and accumulated sands on some parts of the roads resulting from active winds, which also cause a reduction in horizontal visibility.
