Al Awabi: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has completed the restoration works on Al Sadd Tower in the Wilayat of Al Awabi, South Al Batinah Governorate, as part of its ongoing efforts to preserve historical landmarks and safeguard their architectural value. This initiative aims to ensure the sustainability of these structures as civilizational witnesses embodying the historical depth and cultural legacy of the Sultanate of Oman.
Situated along the main road of Al Awabi, Al Sadd Tower was constructed atop a rocky outcrop using stone and clay, featuring a circular design that reflects the traditional architectural characteristics distinctive to the region.
The restoration works encompassed structural reinforcement of the tower, strengthening of wall foundations, enhancement of stone base elements, crack treatment, and the reconstruction of sections of the walls using stone and saruj (traditional lime-based mortar), thereby preserving the authenticity and architectural character of the landmark.
