Sultan Qaboos Military College conducts practical demo of officer cadets’ exercise

Thumrait:  The Sultan Qaboos Military College at the Academy of the Royal Army of Oman (RAO) on Thursday conducted the practical demonstration of the final exercise for officer cadets, codenamed “Shield 31”. The event took place at the Royal Army of Oman’s training grounds in the Governorate of Dhofar.

The practical demonstration was held in the presence of Rear Admiral Ali bin Abdullah Al Shidi, Commandant of the National Defence College, and Maj. Gen. Matar bin Salim Al Balushi, Commander of the Royal Army of Oman, in addition to the Wali of Thumrait and senior officers from the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) and other military and security units.

The audience listened to a briefing about the phases of the exercise and its training objectives, followed by a live-fire demonstration that was conducted in accordance with the plan of the exercise.

The exercise saw the participation of support forces from the Royal Army of Oman, the Royal Air Force of Oman and the Defence Ministry’s Engineering Services. It exhibited a high level of integration and coordination among the participating units.

“Shield 31” exercise was implemented as part of practices to hone the military and leadership skills of officer cadets and ensure their ability to apply what they learn in practical field situations. This contributes to grooming batches of qualified military personnel who are capable of efficiently and competently shouldering their national responsibilities.
