
Sohar: The Ministry of Social Development, represented by the Directorate General of Social Development in the North Al Batinah Governorate, organized today the second edition of the Child Protection Committees Forum in the governorate, under the theme "Safe Childhood."
Mohammed Humaid Al Kalbani, Director General of the Directorate General of Social Development in the North Al Batinah Governorate, explained that the forum aims to spread awareness of children's rights and enhance community partnership. It also seeks to highlight national efforts and institutional partnerships aimed at achieving a safe childhood and strengthening the social security system in alignment with Oman Vision 2040.
He pointed out that child protection in the Sultanate of Oman has become a national necessity to ensure sustainable development and social cohesion. He affirmed that the enactment of the Child Law and the formation of child protection committees across various governorates embody the Sultanate of Oman's commitment to creating a safe environment that enables children to grow healthily, innovate, and participate effectively.
He further indicated that child protection efforts are centered on risk prevention, enhancing family and community awareness, and protecting children in cyberspace. This is in addition to fostering integration among the family, the school, and legal, social, and health authorities.
The forum included the presentation of seven specialized working papers that addressed the statistics of child protection committees for the year 2025, the management of child protection cases, and the legislative and legal aspects of protecting children from the risks of the digital environment.
The papers also covered skills for dealing with abused children, counseling intervention and rehabilitation, the impact of parental conflict on the child, and the establishment of a unified protocol for all child protection committees.
The forum was held under the auspices of Mohammed Sulaiman Al Kindi, Governor of North Al Batinah, in the presence of Sheikh Rashid Ahmed Al Shamsi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development for Family and Community Development, alongside several heads and members of child protection committees in the Sultanate of Oman.
The forum witnessed general discussions on the presented working papers, in addition to honoring the members of child protection committees from various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.
