Commercial store in Oman shutdown for selling adulterated goods

Muscat: The Primary Court in Muscat issued a ruling against a commercial store for violating the Consumer Protection Law issued by Royal Decree No. 66/2014. The shop was fined OMR 2,000.

According to the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP), “Inspectors in Muscat have seized a store that sells adulterated goods, which is contrary to Article 7 of the Consumer Protection Law which states: It is prohibited to trade any adulterated or corrupt commodity, or Imitated or not authorized to sell it, as it is prohibited.”

“Accordingly, the store was seized and the goods confiscated. The case was referred to the Public Prosecution, who in turn referred it to the Primary Court in Muscat, which Issued a verdict convicting the accused and punished with a fine of OMR 2000.”
