Oman intensifies diplomacy to curb regional escalation, enhance international stability

Muscat : The Sultanate of Oman continues its relentless diplomatic efforts to contain the dangerous escalation in the region and prevent the escalation of tensions resulting from repeated Israeli attacks. This is based on its established approach of promoting constructive dialogue, adhering to international law, and advocating for peaceful solutions as the basis for achieving regional security and stability.

These efforts embody the Sultanate of Oman's strategic vision of building bridges of trust between international parties and its pivotal role as a trusted mediator in regional crises.

Key Diplomatic Activities

On Sunday, under the leadership of His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Oman's Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Sultanate participated in the 48th Extraordinary Meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC). This virtual meeting, chaired by Kuwait, focused on rapid regional developments.

The meeting concluded with a joint statement that strongly condemned Israeli attacks on Iranian territory, deeming them a blatant violation of national sovereignty and international law. The statement also urged for an immediate de-escalation and a return to diplomatic negotiations. Oman's significant role in fostering dialogue on the Iranian nuclear issue was praised, recognizing it as a crucial step toward resolving the conflict and enhancing regional security.

In addition to these collective efforts, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi, continued his intensive telephone calls and consultations with counterparts from allied and friendly nations, as well as key international partners like Kaya Kallas, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. These discussions centered on coordinating international stances and increasing political and legal pressure to immediately halt Israeli attacks. The goal is to push for comprehensive negotiation processes that can restore stability and safeguard the region from the dangers of further military escalation.
