Salalah: The "Tamkeen and Sumou" (Empowerment and Elevation) exhibition will kick off tomorrow (Tuesday) in Dhofar Governorate.
Organized by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, represented by the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Committee, the event will feature more than 75 SMEs and will run until 20 August.
The exhibition's opening will be held under the patronage of HH Sayyid Harib bin Thuwaini Al Said, Assistant Secretary General of the Council of Ministers for Conferences.
The exhibition aims to promote the products of these enterprises and enhance their competitiveness in local markets, in addition to creating opportunities for building commercial relationships with private sector institutions.
Sheikh Ahmed Amer Al Maslihi, Head of the SME Committee at the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, explained that organising the "Tamkeen and Sumou" exhibition for SMEs reaffirms the Chamber's role in supporting and empowering these enterprises. This is achieved by bolstering the business environment and providing the enablers necessary for the sustainability of these institutions.
In a statement to Oman News Agency, he said that the exhibition serves as a vital platform for promoting entrepreneurship in Oman and stimulating innovation and economic diversification across all governorates. This aligns with the SME Committee's goal to support the private sector and empower Omani entrepreneurs.
He added that the participating SMEs represent nine economic sectors and aim to showcase Omani products in the local market and expand into Gulf markets. He noted that the key sectors participating include light manufacturing, technology and innovation, private institutions for persons with disabilities, tourism, Omani handicrafts, honey, dates, and other diverse sectors.
The head of the SME Committee confirmed that the exhibition will feature the "Sohar International Competition," which aims to enhance display quality, highlight product identity, and encourage entrepreneurs to excel and innovate.
The "Tamkeen and Sumou" exhibition is organized as part of the SME Committee's drives to broaden the base of economic diversification and empower SMEs for growth and expansion.
