Muscat: The General Directorate for Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances has arrested two individuals linked to international drug trafficking networks. The arrests followed a "meticulous monitoring and tracking operation", said the Royal Oman Police (ROP).
The suspects were found in possession of over 85 kilograms of hashish and marijuana, along with 70,000 psychotropic tablets. The narcotics were hidden in a location along the coast of Quriyat and were loaded into a vehicle for the purpose of trafficking and consumption. Legal procedures are being completed against the individuals.
ROP said in a statement: "After a meticulous monitoring and tracking operation, the General Directorate for Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances arrested two individuals for their collaboration with international networks specialized in drug trafficking. They were found in possession of over eighty-five kilograms of hashish and marijuana, and seventy thousand psychotropic tablets, which were hidden in a location along the coast of Quriyat Governorate and loaded into the vehicle they were using, with the intent to transport them for trafficking and consumption. Legal procedures are being completed."
