Muscat : The Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR) has denied rumours about the sudden power outage that occurred on Monday due to any cyber attacks.
The APSR confirmed it is investigating the sudden power failure that occurred in parts of the Sultanate of Oman.
The Authority explained that it has formed a specialised technical team to study the incident and determine its technical and operational details.
The Authority explained that preliminary results indicate that the outage was caused by a technical failure in one of the power plants, while also confirming that rumors circulating about the network being subjected to cyber attacks are false.
It also explained that a technical investigation is underway to determine the causes of the outage and assess the speed with which licensed companies responded to restore service.
The Authority affirmed that it will fulfill its regulatory role stipulated by law by taking the necessary legal and regulatory measures to ensure the reliability of the service and protect the rights of subscribers, in accordance with the regulations and laws governing the electricity sector in the Sultanate of Oman.
The Authority called on subscribers who may face any challenges or problems with the electricity current to contact the licensed company directly via the call center on number (1011).
