Muscat: Total refinery production in the Sultanate of Oman grew by 1.6 percent while automotive fuel production rose by 20 percent until the end of July 2025,
Preliminary statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that the production of regular motor fuel (M91) increased by 8.3 percent to reach 10.87 million barrels until the end of July 2025, compared to 9.31 million barrels during the same period in 2024. Its sales also recorded a 2 percent increase, reaching 8.20 million barrels compared to 8.46 million barrels, while its exports decreased by 14.7 percent to reach 1.49 million barrels compared to 1.75 million barrels.
Statistics indicated that the production of premium fuel (M95) increased by 4.7 percent, reaching 7,812,800 barrels by the end of last July, compared to 7,463,900 barrels during the same period in 2024. Its sales increased by 1.2 percent, reaching 7,686,900 barrels, compared to 7,595,000 barrels. Its exports also achieved a growth of 50.8 percent, reaching 863,800 barrels, compared to 572,800 barrels.
Meanwhile, diesel production increased by 3.3 percent to 19,379,400 barrels by the end of last July, compared to 18,755,100 barrels by the end of July 2024. Sales also increased by 6 percent, reaching 8,547,800 barrels, compared to 8,064,200 barrels. Exports declined by 2.6 percent, reaching 10,221,400 barrels, compared to 10,496,600 barrels.
In contrast, jet fuel production fell by 14.2 percent, reaching 5,894,200 barrels by the end of July, compared to 6,869,100 barrels during the same period last year. Sales also fell by 6.1 percent, reaching 2,221,000 barrels, compared to 2,364,600 barrels. Exports also fell by 21.2 percent, reaching 3,472,900 barrels, compared to 4,405,500 barrels.
As for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) production, it witnessed a slight decrease of 0.3 percent, reaching 4,364,400 barrels, compared to the same period in 2024, which amounted to 4,375,400 barrels. Sales increased by 22.4 percent, reaching 2,252,100 barrels, compared to 1,839,500 barrels. Exports declined by 60.9 percent, reaching 113,700 barrels, compared to 290,900 barrels.
Regarding petrochemicals, statistics showed that gasoline production increased by 2.6 percent, recording 102,400 metric tonnes, compared to 99,900 metric tonnes during the same period in 2024. Paraxylene production grew by 3.8 percent, reaching 338,000 metric tonnes by the end of July 2025, compared to 325,600 metric tonnes by the end of July 2024. Polypropylene recorded the largest production growth rate of 63.7 percent, recording 200,800 metric tonnes, compared to 122,700 metric tonnes, despite a 10.3 percent decline in sales, recording 17,800 metric tonnes, compared to 19,800 metric tonnes during the same period last year.
Regarding the export front, gasoline exports decreased by 0.8 percent by the end of July 2025, recording 97,100 metric tonnes compared to 97,800 metric tonnes by the end of July 2024. Paraxylene recorded a significant growth of 17.7 percent, reaching 366,100 metric tonnes compared to 311,000 metric tonnes in the same period last year. Polypropylene exports also recorded a remarkable growth of 58.9 percent, reaching 148,900 metric tonnes compared to 93,700 metric tonnes in the same period in 2024.
