Oman hosts GCC disability empowerment and capacity building programme

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman on Tuesday inaugurated the third training session of the "Empowerment and Capacity Building for Persons with Disabilities in GCC Member States" programme, a three-day event organised by the Arab Organisation of Persons with Disabilities.

The program aims to empower persons with disabilities and enhance their participation in decision-making processes by training activists and disability organisations on implementing the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. The programme further focuses on developing participants' capabilities in monitoring, preparing parallel reports and activating their role in development initiatives.

This training session forms part of a series of workshops being conducted across GCC states, representing a coordinated regional effort to advance the rights of persons with disabilities and strengthen the capacities of national professionals working in this sector.
