Geneva: The State Council is participating in the 151st General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and its related committee meetings in Geneva, Switzerland, with sessions continuing through 23 October.
The Council's involvement in this global parliamentary gathering, which includes delegations from across the world, demonstrates its ongoing commitment to strengthening Oman's presence in international parliamentary forums and facilitating the exchange of legislative and institutional expertise.
Within the assembly framework, Maha Sulaiman Al Lamki and Eng. Nahla Abdulwahab Al Hamdi, both members of the State Council, participated in the Women Parliamentarians Forum (2025). The forum addressed critical topics concerning women's empowerment in parliamentary work and enhancing their role in decision-making processes. During a dialogue session titled "Transformational Leadership – Building a More Equitable World," Maha Al Lamki highlighted the significant achievements of Omani women. She emphasised that Oman's future vision rests upon the principle of full partnership between women and men in societal development and nation-building.

She further stressed that women's empowerment extends beyond inclusion in decision-making positions to encompass their enhanced participation in economic, scientific and social spheres, positioning them as active partners in creating a more inclusive and just future.
In parallel proceedings, Khalid Ahmed Al Saadi, Secretary-General of the State Council, took part in the Association of Secretaries General of Parliaments meetings.
