Muscat: India’s top playback singer Madhubanti Bagchi has revealed that she will perform a few unreleased tracks live for the first time during her concert in Muscat.
Winner of the Best Playback Singer (Female) award at both the Filmfare Awards and the Zee Cine Awards 2025 for her chart-topping hit “Aaj Ki Raat” from Stree 2, Madhubanti will perform live at the Sheraton Oman Hotel on November 7, Friday, from 8pm.
“I love testing new material with a live audience — it’s the most honest way to see how a song connects,” she said. Speaking about the upcoming performance, she added, “The setlist is almost locked! It’s a mix of my most loved songs and some personal favourites that translate beautifully live. For the Bengali-speaking audience, yes, there’s a small surprise in store — a song very close to my heart that represents where I come from musically and emotionally.”
When asked about including Arabic influences or local collaborations, Madhubanti said, “For this show, we’re keeping the set focused on my existing material and arrangements, so there aren’t any local collaborations planned just yet.
“But I’m really hoping to connect with musicians while I’m here. There’s so much incredible talent in this region, and it would be amazing to explore a collaboration after the concert once I’ve had a chance to experience the local music scene a bit more.”
Describing the concert setup, she shared, “The band is phenomenal — we’ve been rehearsing tirelessly. I have a mix of live percussion, synth, and acoustic elements this time. The stage design is minimal but immersive, with warm lighting, some visual storytelling, and a focus on sound purity. It’s a very soulful setup.”
On balancing fan favourites with newer material, she explained, “I like to rearrange my songs depending on what I’m listening to at the moment. I’ve always been a big rock and metal fan, so that influence naturally creeps into my sets. It’s fun to mix that edge with Bollywood vibes and see how the audience reacts!”
Reflecting on her musical foundation, she said, “My classical training is my core. It teaches you how to feel every note deeply. Even in a pop or film song, that grounding helps me bring emotion and precision. My journey from Tollywood to Bollywood has been organic — each industry has taught me something unique about sound, storytelling, and audience connection.”
On transitioning from classical music to contemporary genres, Madhubanti added, “It’s always about finding a balance between my classical roots and connecting with listeners everywhere. I enjoy reworking my songs so they carry their Indian essence while fitting into different soundscapes. Over time, I’ve learned to move between genres, and that makes it exciting to take the audience on a small journey through varied moods and styles.”
As for what’s next, she revealed, “I’m going to be releasing one of my favourite songs independently. I’m really excited about it — I consider it my true artistic revelation post my big Bollywood break.”
The evening will also feature Omani singer Nadeem Al Balushi, creating a unique cross-cultural showcase that blends Arabic and Hindi influences.
Following the soulful performance by Madhumanti, the evening’s energy will soar as DJ Pri (Priyanka) will take over the console, spinning an electrifying mix of beats to keep the crowd grooving late into the night.
