
New Delhi: The Sultanate of Oman took part in the 18th meeting of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes, held in New Delhi, Republic of India.
Oman’s delegation was chaired by Nasser bin Khamis Al Jashmi, Chairman of the Tax Authority.
The meeting witnessed wide participation, including 400 representatives from 124 member states, along with 12 observers and 7 invited entities from outside the membership. Besides, representatives from civil society and the academic authorities took part as well.
The meeting discussed strategic dimensions on which the Forum relies to achieve its objectives centered around three main pillars: the ongoing monitoring and review of the implementation of international transparency standards, conducting peer reviews and assessing the effectiveness of these standards’ application in the member states. The meeting also reviewed the activities of capacity-building programs and technical assistance aimed at supporting member states to develop their tax systems.
Nasser bin Khamis Al Jashmi, Chairman of the Tax Authority, signed the annex related to the amendment of the Common Reporting Standard (CRS). This step reflects the ongoing efforts to develop regulatory systems, enhance the effectiveness of the automatic exchange of information and keep pace with global developments in order to support the Sultanate of Oman’s commitment to achieving the highest standards of transparency in tax matters.
