Oman’s telecommunications sector achieves record figures that accelerate digital transformation

Muscat: The latest data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) indicates sustained strong growth in the Sultanate of Oman’s telecommunications sector until the end of October 2025.

The data shows that the total mobile service subscriptions reached 8,045,400, marking an 11.3% increase compared with the same period in 2024, while the active postpaid mobile subscriptions rose by 1.9% to 1,260,429, while prepaid subscriptions grew by 3.0% to 5,200,770 subscribers.

Subscriptions to Internet of Things (IoT – machine-to-machine) services recorded a sharp 68.0% surge, reaching 1,584,201 subscriptions by the end of October 2025, whereas the internet services also posted notable gains.

The data also shows that, the active mobile broadband subscriptions climbed to 5,432,686 subscribers, while active fixed broadband subscriptions increased by 3.6% to 595,692.

Meanwhile the fiber-to-the-Home/Building (FTTH/B) subscriptions grew by 12.4% to 351,432, as the fixed 5G subscriptions edged up by 0.5% to 219,751 by the end of October 2025, while the fixed 4G subscriptions declined sharply by 51.3%, falling to 12,621.

Subscriptions to ADSL services dropped by 37.9% to 10,237 subscribers, while satellite internet subscriptions rose by 35.5% to 904 ,whereas the other internet subscriptions, including power line internet, Ethernet, and leased internet lines, fell by 11.0% to 747 subscriptions by the end of October 2025, compared with the same period in 2024.
