Muscat: Investigations revealed that a tourist boat capsized approximately 2.5 nautical miles from Sultan Qaboos Port in the wilayat of Mutrah, while carrying a group of 25 French tourists, including the tour guide and the boat captain.
According to boat operators, the vessel reportedly began taking in water in the middle of the sea after its engine malfunctioned, leaving it unable to continue sailing.
The incident resulted in the death of three tourists, while two others(local tour guides) sustained minor injuries. Ambulance crews from the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA) provided on-site medical treatment to the injured passengers.
Authorities have confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances and causes of the incident.
