Delhi: Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) participated in the World Forum of Accountants, held at the India International Convention and Expo Centre (IICC) in Greater Noida, Republic of India.

The event is held under the theme "Nation Building to Global Collaboration: Strengthening Trust, Enabling Growth."

The Chamber’s delegation included Dr. Abdullah bin Masoud Al Harthy, OCCI Board Member and Chairman of the Supervisory Committee for the Omani Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Programme, and Mustafa Salman Ahmed, OCCI Board Member and Chairman of the Finance and Insurance Committee.

The delegates participated in keynote sessions and specialised workshops addressing financial governance, compliance, sustainability, and digital transformation in business, alongside exploring ways to enhance cooperation between the public and private sectors.

Dr. Abdullah Masoud Al Harthy emphasized that this participation represents a significant opportunity to review leading international experiences and practices in accounting and governance, while building communication channels with global professional institutions. He noted that such engagement enhances the business environment in the Sultanate of Oman and supports the private sector's aspirations under Oman Vision 2040.

He further pointed out that the Chamber’s presence at this forum runs parallel to its efforts in implementing the Omani CFO Programme, a strategic initiative aimed at raising the efficiency of national cadres in financial management, advanced accounting, and corporate governance.

This programme is conducted in cooperation with the Muscat Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). He explained that the program has succeeded in enhancing the readiness of Omani professionals to lead financial functions in both public and private sector institutions, thereby supporting the economic transformation ecosystem in Oman.

For his part, Mustafa Salman Ahmed stated that the Chamber’s participation in this global forum reflects its commitment to developing Omani capabilities in financial and accounting disciplines.

He noted that the discussions and meetings witnessed during the forum contributed to an exchange of expertise with international professional bodies and the exploration of cooperation opportunities in financial development, governance, and compliance.

He added that the Chamber’s involvement is part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen its international presence and establish effective professional partnerships that contribute to developing the framework for governance and financial transparency, which in turn reflects positively on the competitiveness of the Omani private sector at regional and international levels.
