CPA steps up efforts to ensure market stability amid weather impacts

Muscat: The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) is intensifying its efforts to maintain market stability and protect consumer rights amid the ongoing effects of the Al Masarrat low-pressure system affecting the Sultanate of Oman.

Through its offices in various governorates, the Authority is closely monitoring suppliers’ compliance with laws regulating the provision of goods and services to the public.

Inspection campaigns are being conducted in markets and commercial centers to ensure the availability of essential consumer goods and to verify the integrity of supply chains.

In addition, the CPA is coordinating with relevant government departments to assess and address any observations or impacts arising from the recent weather conditions.

These measures aim to prevent market disruptions and ensure that residents continue to have access to necessary goods and services during the emergency.

The Authority praised the heightened awareness of consumers and their cooperation in reporting any violations. It also warned suppliers against exploiting the emergency situation for unlawful gains, stressing the importance of maintaining fairness in trade practices.

“The Consumer Protection Authority remains committed to enhancing market stability and safeguarding consumer rights in line with Oman Vision 2040,” the Authority stated.

“This vision seeks to establish a fair economic environment and ensure sustainable services that support the well-being of society in all circumstances.”

The CPA’s proactive measures form part of the broader national response to the weather system, complementing the efforts of other government sectors in ensuring the safety and welfare of citizens and residents.
