Oman Charitable Authority honours Dar Al Atta'a for humanitarian efforts

Muscat: In recognition of outstanding humanitarian efforts and community partnership, the Oman Charitable Authority honored the Dar Al Atta'a Association during a ceremony held under the theme “Together We Create Impact.” The event took place in the final days of the holy month of Ramadan under the patronage of Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior.

The association was appreciated for sustained international humanitarian campaigns, which have extended support to communities in Palestine, Syria, Yemen, Sudan, Lebanon, as well as the Rohingya since 2014.

Over the past decade, Dar Al Atta'a has organised 14 campaigns, successfully raising more than OMR1.8 million. These funds were contributed by citizens and residents of Oman, reflecting a strong culture of generosity and solidarity within the Sultanate.

Significantly, Dar Al Atta'a Association was the only entity honoured from among private sector institutions at the ceremony. This distinction highlights its leadership in strengthening cooperation between government entities, civil society organisations, and private sector partners, particularly in advancing sustainable community initiatives and specialised humanitarian programmes.

Since launching its international campaigns in 2014 under the umbrella of the Oman Charitable Authority, the association has played a key role in mobilising support for people affected by crises.

Its efforts have particularly focused on Gaza and the wider Palestinian territories, while also extending assistance to other regions experiencing emergencies. Among its notable responses were campaigns supporting victims of the earthquake in Türkiye and Syria, where urgent humanitarian aid was delivered.

The association’s campaigns have primarily focused on fundraising to provide essential relief, including food supplies, shelter, and medical assistance. The amount raised demonstrates the commitment of Omani society to humanitarian causes and its readiness to respond swiftly to international crises.

Speaking on the occasion, Mariam bint Issa Al Zadjali, Founder and Chairperson of Dar Al Atta'a Association, said that the recognition reflects the shared responsibility of society in addressing humanitarian challenges.

She emphasised that the continued contributions of citizens and residents underscore their compassion and willingness to support those in need, in coordination with relevant authorities.

Al Zadjali also highlighted the critical role of the Oman Charitable Authority in overseeing and coordinating external humanitarian efforts, ensuring that aid reaches beneficiaries efficiently and transparently. She noted that such institutional support has been essential to the success of the association’s international initiatives.

In her remarks, she further welcomed the establishment of the Oman Red Crescent, which will operate under the Authority. She expressed confidence that the new entity will play a significant role in enhancing Oman’s humanitarian outreach in the future, aligning with the work of similar organisations around the world.

The ceremony reaffirmed the importance of partnership and collective action in humanitarian work, celebrating organisations that contribute to improving lives and promoting social responsibility both within Oman and beyond.
