Health care management, regulation committee holds first meeting of 2026

Muscat--- The Health Care Management and Regulation Committee held its first meeting of 2026 today at the Ministry of Health’s headquarter, chaired by Dr. Hilal Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health.

The session focused on strategic plans aimed at elevating healthcare standards and unifying efforts to deliver integrated services that meet the aspirations and needs of the community.

A key topic on the agenda was the activation of the Poison Control Center at the national level. Discussions highlighted the importance of poison control services, the development of toxicology medicine in the Sultanate of Oman, and the Center’s role as an essential component of the emergency and disaster response system, contributing to national health security.

The committee also addressed the need for greater integration and unified efforts among health institutions across Oman through standardized treatment protocols and unified medical guidelines.

Enhancing the competence of healthcare personnel was another major focus, including continuous training for physicians, pharmacists, and nursing staff in managing poisoning cases, as well as providing specialized medical consultations for diagnosis and treatment.

The meeting reviewed the patient referral guidelines from primary healthcare centers and Emergency departments across Muscat health institutions, alongside a presentation on the task force responsible for unifying waiting lists across various health facilities. The committee further integrated the steering committees of the five-year health plan (2026–2030) within its areas of responsibility.
