
Muscat: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman, received on Saturday Abdulsalam Abdi Ali, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Somalia, at the Ministry’s General Diwan, as part of the Somali minister’s official visit to Oman.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed bilateral relations between the brotherly countries and explored ways to enhance cooperation across various sectors, in a manner that supports shared interests and strengthens the existing partnership.
The discussions also covered regional developments, particularly in the Horn of Africa, with both ministers underscoring the importance of supporting regional and international efforts aimed at enhancing security and stability and advancing development pathways.
Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi reaffirmed Oman’s firm position in support of the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Somalia, as well as respect for the will of its people. He emphasized Oman’s stance of non-recognition of any entities outside the framework of the Somali state.
For his part, Abdulsalam Abdi Ali expressed appreciation for Oman’s constructive diplomatic role, highlighting its ongoing efforts to support stability, promote unity, and encourage dialogue among all parties.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Faisal bin Omar Al Marhoon, Head of the Arab Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Bashir Hassan Haji, Ambassador of Somalia to Oman; along with a number of officials from both sides.
