Oman, Iran discuss Strait of Hormuz security, issue of seafarers

Muscat: Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi said he held constructive talks on the Strait of Hormuz with Dr Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, stressing the shared responsibility of coastal states to safeguard international navigation.

In a post on X,  Sayyid Badr highlighted the urgent humanitarian need to secure the release of seafarers held for extended periods, noting that sustained diplomacy and practical solutions are essential to ensure lasting freedom of navigation in the vital maritime corridor.
