
Muscat: The total number of registered vehicles in the Sultanate of Oman recorded a 5.5 percent increase by the end of March 2026, reaching 1,873,803 compared to the same period in 2025.
Data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that private vehicles accounted for the largest share of total registered vehicles in Oman, representing 79.2 percent with 1,484,718 vehicles. They were followed by commercial vehicles at 14.8 percent, totalling 276,887 vehicles, then rental vehicles at 2.4 percent, amounting to 44,958 vehicles. The remaining percentages were distributed among taxis, government vehicles, and other categories.
In terms of colour, white topped the list of most frequently registered vehicle colors, accounting for 42.2 percent with 789,850 vehicles, followed by silver at 12.8 percent with 240,675 vehicles, and gray vehicles at 10.5 percent with 197,683 vehicles.
Regarding engine displacement, vehicles with an engine capacity between 1500cc and 3000cc recorded the highest share of total registered vehicles at 54.4 percent, numbering 1,019,759 vehicles. They were followed by the 3001cc to 4500cc engine category at 22.1 percent, reaching 413,719 vehicles.
The statistics further indicated that vehicles weighing less than 3 tons constituted the largest portion of total registered vehicles, at 90.7 percent, numbering 1,699,988 vehicles.
