Muscat: The Competition Protection and Monopoly Prevention Centre (CPMPC) at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion organised a specialised workshop in Muscat on Tuesday titled "Mechanisms for Submitting Economic Concentration Requests."
The event saw the participation of several law firms responsible for submitting such requests on behalf of companies.
The workshop addressed several key themes, including the definition of economic concentration, cases requiring the submission of approval requests for concentration operations, a review of the detailed steps for submission, and the required documentation.
It also covered the criteria and standards upon which Ministry specialists evaluate and study these requests. The workshop featured a discussion session during which participants' inquiries were addressed and experiences were shared regarding the primary challenges companies face in this field, alongside ways to address them in compliance with applicable regulations.
Eng. Ghalib Said Al Maamari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for Commerce and Industry, emphasized the importance of this workshop in raising awareness of the mechanisms for submitting economic concentration requests.
He noted its role in supporting efforts to regulate the freedom of economic activity and establish market principles and price freedom in a manner that does not lead to the restriction of competition.
