Khoula Hospital launches spine endoscopy system, signs cochlear implant funding agreement

Muscat: The Ministry of Health (MOH), represented by the Directorate General of Khoula Hospital, launched on Thursday the “Spine Endoscopy System,” funded and supported by the Oman India Fertilizer Company (OMIFCO). This initiative comes as part of ongoing efforts to enhance specialised medical services and provide patients with the latest therapeutic technologies.

The spine endoscopy system is one of the latest advancements in minimally invasive spinal surgery, enabling precise surgical procedures with limited intervention. This contributes to reducing complications, accelerating recovery time and improving overall treatment outcomes in line with the latest advanced medical practices.

Furthermore, the Directorate General of Khoula Hospital signed a funding agreement for cochlear implant surgeries for hearing-impaired patients at Al Nahdha Hospital, with a total cost of OMR50,000, financed by Oman India Fertilizer Company (OMIFCO). This initiative supports ongoing efforts to enhance therapeutic and rehabilitative services and improve patients’ quality of life.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Rashid Mohammed Al Alawi, Director General of Khoula Hospital, and Eng. Khalid Mohammed Al Fannah, OMIFCO Director of Sustainability and Corporate Communications.

In a statement, Dr. Rashid said that launching the spine endoscopy system and signing the cochlear implant funding agreement come as part of the hospital’s current efforts to develop specialised healthcare services and equip them with the latest medical technologies, thereby contributing to the delivery of advanced and safe patient care, as well as reducing surgical waiting lists.

He added that these initiatives reflect the importance of community partnership between healthcare institutions and the private sector in supporting the health system and enabling the expansion of specialised services, which in turn positively impacts the quality of healthcare provided to patients and service recipients.

For his part, Eng. Khalid stated that the company continues to support the healthcare sector by providing modern medical equipment and technologies to Khoula Hospital and Al Nahdha Hospital, contributing to the introduction of advanced technologies that keep pace with the rapid medical development in the Sultanate of Oman and enhance the quality of healthcare services provided to patients.
