Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman has welcomed the successful conclusion of the latest round of negotiations held in Amman, which resulted in an agreement between the relevant parties to release more than 1,600 prisoners and detainees linked to the crisis in Yemen.
In an official statement, Oman noted that the agreement builds on understandings reached during talks hosted by the Sultanate in December 2025. This reflects continued progress in humanitarian efforts aimed at easing the impact of the prolonged conflict in Yemen.
The Sultanate expressed its appreciation for the efforts of Jordan, the United Nations, and the International Committee of the Red Cross in facilitating and supporting the implementation of this humanitarian agreement.
Oman described the prisoner release deal as a significant confidence-building measure. The Sultanate believes the move could help advance dialogue between the parties and strengthen prospects for a comprehensive political settlement in Yemen.
