
Muscat: The production of automotive fuel by refineries in the Sultanate of Oman recorded a growth of 86.2 percent during the month of April 2026, while automotive fuel production decreased by 5.8 percent compared to the same period of 2025.
Preliminary statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed a decrease in the production of regular automotive fuel (91) by 7.9 percent to reach 5,326,100 barrels until the end of April 2026, compared to 5,781,000 barrels during the same period of the year 2025.
On the other hand, sales of regular automotive fuel (91) rose slightly by 0.2 percent, to reach 5,125,300 barrels until the end of April 2026, compared to 5,115,700 barrels in the same period of 2025. Its exports also recorded a growth of 2.8 percent to reach 1,393,100 barrels until the end of April 2026, compared to 1,354,600 barrels until the end of April 2025.
The production of premium automotive fuel (95) also declined by 3 percent to reach 4,276,800 barrels until the end of April 2026, compared to 4,410,900 barrels during the same period of the year 2025.
Its sales also witnessed an increase of 6.5 percent, to reach 4,736,300 barrels until the end of April 2026, compared to 4,446,200 barrels during the same period of last year, while its exports decreased by 32.8 percent to reach 252,700 barrels until the end of April 2026 compared to 376,000 barrels during the same period of 2025.
With regard to gas oil (diesel), production decreased by 3.3 percent, recording 23,704,500 barrels until the end of April 2026, compared to 24,511,100 barrels during the same period of the year 2025.
Its sales also fell by 40.1 percent, to reach 3,336,900 barrels until the end of April 2026, compared to 5,574,500 barrels in the same period of last year, and its exports also decreased by 9.5 percent, recording 18,194,400 barrels until the end of April 2026 compared to 20,112,900 barrels until the end of April 2025.
On the other hand, the production of aviation fuel recorded an increase of 10.9 percent to reach 8,862,600 barrels until the end of April 2026, compared to 7,988,400 barrels during the same period of 2025.
Its sales also recorded a growth of 14.8 percent to reach 1,428,900 barrels, compared to 1,245,000 barrels in the same period of last year, and its exports also rose by 13.4 percent, to reach 7,321,200 barrels, compared to 6,455,000 barrels until the end of April 2026.
As for the production of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), it recorded a decrease of 4.9 percent to reach 3,598,200 barrels until the end of April 2026, compared to 3,782,900 barrels during the same period of the year 2025.
Its sales also fell by 18.8 percent, to reach 1,059,300 barrels, compared to 1,304,300 barrels in the same period of last year, and its exports recorded a decrease of 6.1 percent to reach 1,068,500 barrels, compared to 1,137,900 barrels until the end of April 2026.
With regard to naphtha, production rose by 2.9 percent to reach 12,379,700 barrels until the end of April 2026, compared to 12,031,400 barrels during the same period of the year 2025.
Its sales also rose by 9.1 percent, recording 4,762,500 barrels, compared to 4,364,900 barrels in the same period of the previous year, while its exports decreased by 1.9 percent, to reach 7,711,600 barrels, compared to 7,862,900 barrels until the end of April 2026.
On the other hand, the production of other refinery products recorded a slight increase of 0.1 percent to reach 12,899,500 barrels until the end of April 2026, compared to 12,883,300 barrels during the same period of the year 2025.
In contrast, the sales of these products witnessed a decline of 71.3 percent to record 3,331,100 barrels until the end of April 2026, against 11,616,600 barrels during the same period of the year 2025.
Meanwhile, their exports rose by 20.4 percent, to reach 3,955,100 barrels, compared to 3,284,300 barrels until the end of April 2026.
The statistics showed an increase in the production of benzene to 67,700 metric tonnes until the end of April 2026, compared to 59,500 metric tonnes during the same period of the year 2025, and its exports also rose by 10.1 percent, to reach 64,000 metric tonnes until the end of April 2026, against 58,100 metric tonnes in the same period of last year.
The production of paraxylene also rose to reach 213,700 metric tonnes until the end of April 2026, compared to 196,700 metric tonnes during the same period of the year 2025, while its exports decreased by 5.3 percent, to record 215,900 metric tonnes, against 228,000 metric tonnes in the same period of last year.
As for polypropylene, it went against the upward trend of some other products, as its production fell by 25.7 percent, to reach 76,300 metric tonnes until the end of April 2026, compared to 102,600 metric tonnes during the same period of last year.
Despite this decline in production, sales of polypropylene recorded a growth of 17.5 percent, to reach 12,700 metric tonnes until the end of April 2026, compared to 10,800 metric tonnes in the same period of the year 2025, while its exports dropped by 21.7 percent, to reach 62,000 metric tonnes until the end of April 2026, compared to 79,200 metric tonnes in the same period of the year 2025.
