Manah: An awareness panel discussion titled “Safety Charter” was held on Tuesday at Oman Across Ages Museum.
The event was organised by the Health Committee in the Wilayat of Manah under the “Bridges of Hope” initiative, as part of the wilayat’s participation in the community competition to curb the spread of drugs and psychotropic substances.
The event also coincided with the celebration of World Drug Day, which falls on the twenty-sixth of June every year.
The event was held under the auspices of Sulaiman Nasser Al Hajji, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Administrative and Financial Affairs.
The session aimed to enhance community awareness regarding the dangers of drugs and psychotropic substances, consolidate a culture of dialogue among community members to confront negative behaviours and alien phenomena, and promote values of shared responsibility in protecting youth and families, drawing upon the authentic values that characterize Omani society.
The panel discussion comprised four main pillars addressing the legal, social, health, and religious aspects associated with combating drugs and psychotropic substances.
The session featured the screening of several video clips highlighting the efforts of the Health Committee in the Wilayat of Manah in executing awareness programs and events, introducing the community competition to curb the spread of drugs and psychotropic substances, and showcasing prominent community initiatives aimed at promoting awareness and prevention against this scourge. Concurrently, an accompanying awareness exhibition was opened on the sidelines of the session, focusing on the dangers of drugs, means of prevention, and the role of community institutions in tackling this phenomenon.
