MUSCAT: Oman continues to endure intense summer heat, with Muqshin in Dhofar recording the country's highest temperature of 49.4°C over the past 24 hours, according to the latest data released by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
The CAA's meteorological stations showed that Mukhayzinah followed closely at 48.9°C, while Haima registered 48.4°C and As Sunainah recorded 48.0°C.
Other areas experiencing extremely high temperatures included Um Al Zamaim (47.9°C), Ibri (47.2°C), Marmul (46.8°C), Al Qabil (45.8°C), Bidiyah (45.8°C), Izki (45.7°C) and Al Mazyunah (45.7°C).
The latest readings underscore the persistence of harsh summer conditions across much of the Sultanate, with temperatures in several interior and desert regions hovering close to the 50°C mark.
Authorities have repeatedly urged residents to take precautions during periods of extreme heat by avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, particularly during the afternoon, staying well hydrated, wearing light-coloured clothing and limiting strenuous outdoor activities.
