RAM launches 'ZAD' initiative to prepare Omani students for study abroad

Muscat: The Royal Academy of Management (RAM), in partnership with the Ministry of Education, has announced the opening of applications for the ZAD: Promising Omani Leaders Initiative, designed to prepare Omani students for the academic, personal and cultural transition to studying abroad. Applications will be open from 20 to 27 August 2026 to eligible students preparing to pursue their studies overseas.

The initiative begins with a three-day Pre-Departure Orientation that takes place on 3 September until 5 September 2026 at the German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech).

The orientation will provide students with an intensive and interactive introduction to the practical realities of studying and living abroad, helping them prepare for greater independence, new academic and social environments, and the responsibilities that come with beginning their university journey.

During the Pre-Departure Orientation, students will take part in interactive learning sessions and practical activities focused on areas including self-leadership, personal responsibility, decision-making, communication, cultural awareness, financial readiness and adapting to life abroad. Students will also have opportunities to learn from relevant partners and the experiences of Omani students who have studied overseas.

The Pre-Departure Orientation forms the starting point of a wider learning journey that continues after students begin their studies. Through a blended model combining in-person and virtual learning, ZAD will provide students with continued opportunities to apply what they have learned, reflect on their experiences and strengthen the capabilities needed to navigate their first year of university life.

The initiative reflects the strategic partnership between the Royal Academy of Management and the Ministry of Education, bringing together the Ministry’s experience in supporting students and their educational journeys with RAM’s expertise in leadership and capability development. Through this partnership, the initiative aims to strengthen students’ readiness for studying abroad while supporting their longer-term personal and leadership development.

Eligible students can apply for the ZAD: Promising Omani Leaders Initiative from 20 to 27 August 2026 through the Royal Academy of Management’s website, where further information on the initiative, eligibility requirements and participation arrangements is also available.
