Nagoya --- Omani athletes Ali Al Balushi and Mulham Al Balushi have qualified for the men's 100m semifinals after topping their respective heats at the 20th Asian Games currently taking place in Aichi Nagoya 2026, Japan.
Ali Al Balushi won his heat with a time of 10.06 seconds, finishing ahead of South Korea's Daniel Puisa (10.23 seconds) and Saudi Arabia's Mohammed Abdullah (10.32 seconds).
Mulham Al Balushi also topped his heat with a time of 10.29 seconds, beating India's Singh Gurderveer (10.38 seconds) and Iran's Hassan Taftian (10.49 seconds).
In the women's 100m event, Mazoon Al Alawi finished 7th in her heat—which included seven competitors—clocking a time of 12.02 seconds, while Bahrain's Edidiong Odiong won the heat with a time of 11.46 seconds.
Meanwhile, the national beach volleyball team (Team A) launched its Asian Games campaign with a victory over the Philippines, winning two sets to nil in today's match.
