Oman participates in regional meting of Global Research Council in Kuwait

Kuwait: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Research and Innovation Authority, participated in the regional meeting of the Global Research Council (GRC) for the Middle East and North Africa region, held in the State of Kuwait.

The delegation of the Sultanate of Oman at the meeting was headed by Dr. Saif Abdullah Al Haddabi, Head of the Research and Innovation Authority.

The meeting, organised by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) in cooperation with the National Council for Scientific Research of the Lebanese Republic, discussed the theme "Curiosity-Driven Scientific Research," with the participation of representatives from research funding institutions and research entities in the region to exchange insights and expertise on the importance of this type of research and its role in enhancing scientific research and innovation systems.

Discussions focused on understanding the nature of curiosity-driven scientific research, its various dimensions, and its role in developing research systems, as an approach originating from scientific inquiries and the desire to acquire new knowledge and understand phenomena, without requiring direct practical applications or commercial outcomes.

The meeting touched upon the importance of providing a supportive research environment that allows researchers to explore new scientific ideas, thereby contributing in the long term to expanding knowledge horizons and creating opportunities for future discoveries and innovations.

This participation comes within the framework of enhancing regional and international cooperation in the fields of research and innovation and exchanging expertise among research institutions, coinciding with the Sultanate of Oman's preparations to host the 16th Annual Meeting of the Global Research Council in 2028.
