Muscat: The fourth edition of Sports Spark has officially opened at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, offering a comprehensive summer programme that combines sports, entertainment, and community engagement for people of all ages. Running until August 15, the event has expanded significantly this year, reflecting a growing popularity and an increasing number of visitors and participants, which further cements its position as one of Oman's leading summer sports and recreational events.
Organised for the fourth consecutive year, Sports Spark aims to support community initiatives that encourage physical activity, promote healthy lifestyles, and improve overall quality of life. It provides families, children, and young people with a complete indoor summer experience in a fully air-conditioned environment.
This year's programme features more than 20 sports and interactive activities, alongside several flagship events including the Spark Martial Arts Championship, the Muscat Night Run, and a comprehensive children's summer camp. This camp offers a mix of sports, educational, and recreational activities designed to develop skills and encourage productive use of the school holidays.
Eng. Saeed bin Salem Al Shanfari, Chief Executive Officer of the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, stated that the fourth edition builds on the success achieved over the past three years. He noted that the centre has enhanced the visitor experience by expanding the event's footprint and diversifying its programme to cater to a wider audience.
He added that the centre aims to make Sports Spark a premier summer destination where members of the community can enjoy sports in a safe and engaging environment while taking part in accompanying entertainment and family-oriented activities. Through Sports Spark, the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre continues to leverage its modern facilities to host high-quality community events, transforming its exhibition halls into a vibrant destination for sports, recreation, and family interaction during the summer season.
