Shura Council Office  reviews responses from ministries
Muscat: The Shura Council Office reviewed on Sunday a number of ministerial responses to a series of follow-up instruments submitted by the Council members.
These include the response of the Council of Ministers to the desire expressed by the Council regarding the creation of a long-term cultural visa for a period of ten years.
The Council Office, headed by Khalid bin Hilal Al Maawali, Chairman of the Shura Council, also reviewed the response of the Council of Ministers to the desire expressed by the Shura Council regarding enhancing the quality of telecommunication services in the Sultanate of Oman.
The response indicated that the Government pays continuous attention to the telecommunications sector through developing the communication infrastructure and improving its performance quality to keep pace with the rapid development in the sector, as it is considered an essential pillar for supporting the development process in various sectors.
During the meeting, the response of the Chairman of the Projects, Tenders and Local Content Authority to the briefing request submitted regarding the mechanisms and controls related to allocating not less than 10% of the total value of government purchases and tenders to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) was reviewed.
The meeting also reviewed the follow-up instruments submitted by the Council members, including the expressed desire regarding Omanisation in cybersecurity jobs in the Sultanate of Oman.
The meeting highlighted a briefing request submitted to the Minister of Social Development regarding the availability of an integrated social security system for families of laid-off workers and those in financial distress.
It also discussed the briefing request submitted to the Minister of Health and the Minister of Education regarding the proposed preventive measures to limit the spread of seasonal viruses in the community and educational environments.
The meeting was held during its sixth ordinary meeting of the third annual convening (2025-2026) of the tenth term (2023-2027.
